Feather Falling IV cuts fall damage by 48%, so you survive about 41 blocks instead of 22. Fall damage by level, rolling it on the table, and pairings.
Feather Falling reduces fall damage by 12% per level, up to 48% at level IV. It only goes on boots, and it is the one boot enchantment everyone should have. Without it, a fall of 23 blocks kills you from full health. With Feather Falling IV, you can survive about 41.
Fall damage by level
Fall damage is the number of blocks fallen minus 3. These are the heights where each setup first deals 20 damage, enough to kill a player at full health with no absorption:

Feather Falling stacks with Protection, because Protection also reduces fall damage. Both count toward the same 80% cap.
It also cuts damage from ender pearls, from falling while riding a mob, and from landing hard with elytra or after a Wind Burst launch. It doesn’t help when you fly into a wall.
Rolling it on the enchanting table
Feather Falling is weirdly rare at level 30. On diamond boots, a level-30 enchant only has about a 2.7% chance of including Feather Falling. Lower costs give it far more often:

If you’re enchanting boots, remove a few bookshelves or wait for a mid-20s offer. You’ll often get Feather Falling III, then upgrade it with a book.
Books come from librarians, fishing and loot chests. Under the experimental Villager Trade Rebalance, jungle librarians sell it. Two Feather Falling III books combine into IV on an anvil.
What goes with it
Feather Falling conflicts with nothing. A full boot setup is Feather Falling IV, Protection IV, Depth Strider III, Unbreaking III and Mending. For long drops you can’t avoid, carry a water bucket or a Slow Falling potion.

From full health with no other protection, about 41 blocks. Add Protection IV on other armor pieces and it goes up a lot: with two Protection IV pieces you hit the 80% cap and survive drops of roughly 100 blocks.

Yes. Ender pearl damage counts as fall damage, so Feather Falling reduces it.
Does Feather Falling help with elytra crashes?
It reduces damage from landing too hard, but not from flying into a wall. Wall crashes are kinetic damage, not fall damage.
