How to Download Minecraft on iPhone and iPad (App Store)
Buy Minecraft once on the App Store and it installs on every iPhone and iPad on your Apple Account. Paying without a card, controllers, and moving worlds.
Open the App Store, search “Minecraft”, check the developer is Mojang, and buy it once. That purchase installs on every iPhone and iPad signed in to your Apple Account. It’s Bedrock Edition, so you can play with friends on Android, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.
Installing Minecraft on iPhone or iPad step by step
- In the App Store, search for Minecraft and open the listing from Mojang. There are plenty of copycat block games; the real one is just “Minecraft”.
- Tap the price, confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your password, and wait for it to install.
- Open it and sign in with a Microsoft account (free). You need this for cross-play, Minecraft Realms, featured servers and anything you buy in the Marketplace.
The price on the listing is what you’ll actually pay in your region. We track the usual figures on how much Minecraft costs.
Paying without a card
Apple publishes the accepted payment methods per country, and it changes. Check Settings > your name > Payment & Shipping on the device to see what your Apple Account can use right now. Apple gift cards are region-locked like Google’s, so a card bought for another country’s store won’t add balance to a Bangladeshi account. Bangladeshi buyers should read Minecraft price in Bangladesh before paying a reseller for anything.
Controllers, keyboards and iPad play
Touch controls work, but building on a phone is fiddly. iPadOS and iOS support Bluetooth Xbox and PlayStation controllers, and iPads accept a keyboard and mouse. An iPad with a controller is close to the console experience.
Moving worlds between devices
Worlds are stored on the device. To take one to a new iPhone, either upload it to a Realm and download it on the new device, or export it as a .mcworld file (world settings > Export World) and open it on the other device. Back up first; deleting the app deletes local worlds.
For parents
If the App Store listing shows Family Sharing as supported, other people in your family group can install the game without buying it again. Screen time, purchase approval and chat settings are covered in our Minecraft guide for parents. For what’s different about the mobile version compared with Java, read the Bedrock Edition guide.
Common questions
Does one purchase cover iPhone and iPad?
Yes. The App Store purchase belongs to your Apple Account, so you can install Minecraft on every iPhone and iPad signed in with it at no extra cost.
Is there a free trial on iPhone?
Mojang's free trial pages list Windows, PlayStation and Android, not iOS. On iPhone you buy the full game or use Minecraft Classic in a browser on a computer.
Can I use a controller on iPad?
Yes. Bluetooth Xbox and PlayStation controllers work, and iPads also accept a keyboard and mouse.
