Minecraft Cheat Codes: Enable Cheats and 15 Commands

Minecraft cheat codes are chat commands. How to turn cheats on in Java and Bedrock, what it costs your world, and 15 working commands with syntax.

By minecraft.bd Editorial Team·Updated

“Cheat codes” in Minecraft are chat commands. Turn cheats on for your world, open chat (T on Java, the chat button on Bedrock) and type a command starting with a slash, like /gamemode creative or /give @s diamond 64. There’s nothing to download, and any app promising Minecraft “cheat codes” is just a list of these commands.

Turning cheats on

Java Edition

  • New world: Create New World, then set Allow Cheats to ON.
  • Existing world: press Esc, choose Open to LAN, set Allow Commands/Cheats to ON and click Start LAN World. This lasts until you leave the world.

Bedrock Edition (Windows, mobile, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch)

  • Open the world’s settings, go to Cheats and turn on Activate Cheats.
  • This disables achievements for that world permanently. Copy the world first if you care about achievements.

On a server or Realm, you need operator permissions. Ask the owner.

Phone and console notes

On mobile, tap the chat icon at the top of the screen; on console, press right on the D-pad. Typing the / shows a list of commands with suggestions, which saves a lot of typing on a touchscreen.

Things that aren’t cheats

There’s no /fly, no “infinite health” code and no secret button combo. Hacked clients and modded APKs that promise those can get you banned from servers and often carry malware. Stick to commands.

Every command in the game is in our full command list, grouped by what it does. Or go back to the commands hub.

Common questions

Do cheats disable achievements?

On Bedrock, yes, permanently for that world, even if you turn cheats off later. Java has advancements instead of achievements, and enabling cheats doesn't block them.

How do you turn on cheats in an existing Java world?

Press Esc, choose Open to LAN, set Allow Cheats to ON and start the LAN world. Cheats stay on until you quit the world.

Do cheat codes work on phones and consoles?

Yes. Bedrock on Android, iPhone, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch uses the same commands. Open chat and type them. You don't need to download anything.
